Douglas Derring's Bio:
Douglas Derring is a transitioning Marine Infantry Weapons Officer based at Parris Island, South Carolina. He primarily serves as the Installation Range Control Officer and is responsible for planning, coordinating and managing all live-fire operations and marksmanship and field skills instruction. He also oversees a military occupational specialty producing formal school, to include several programs of instruction. As a Marine Gunner, Douglas Derring is considered a subject matter expert to commanders, at all levels, in infantry organic weapons, tactics, and in range and training area management. Douglas Derring has 20 years of experience in military service, including training and readiness planning, instruction/curriculum development, operational and logistical planning and synchronization, and combat operations, among others. His tours include service in both the Marine Corps’ operating forces and on posts and stations serving on a planning staff or as an instructor. Douglas Derring is currently finishing his final year of studies with American Military University where he is pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in management with a concentration in human resources. A native of Chesapeake, Virginia, Douglas Derring lives in Beaufort, South Carolina with his wife and their young son.
